Home Health Aide (HHA) $17-$19/Hr.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including hygiene, bathing, dressing, shaving, eating, ambulation, and transfers.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy patient environment, including light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and straightening living areas.

• Provide authorized patient-specific support, including:

  • Toileting and assistance with bedpans and urinals.

  • Catheter and ostomy care within the HHA’s permitted scope.

  • Applying/removing prescribed anti-embolism stockings.

  • Assisting with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility devices.

  • Assisting with prescribed range-of-motion exercises, ice caps/collars, and CPAP or oxygen devices as permitted.

  • Collecting specimens and performing simple urine or blood glucose testing when trained and authorized.

  • Measuring vital signs, fluid intake/output, and preparing special diets.

• Maintain accurate records of care provided.

• Observe and promptly report changes in the patient’s appearance, condition, or behavior to the registered nurse.

• Assist with self-administered medications only as permitted by applicable Florida law, agency policy, the patient’s plan of care, and required RN review and patient/caregiver consent.

Scope of Practice

HHAs must perform only duties authorized by the patient’s plan of care, training, and applicable Florida requirements. HHAs do not perform services requiring professional licensure, including sterile dressing changes, wound irrigation or debridement, enemas, enteral feeding, catheterization, tracheostomy care, application of heat, administration of controlled substances, or filling/removing medications from pill organizers or electronic medication dispensers.
